How to Create a Filter in Webmail

In this article, we will show you how to create filters in Webmail. Filters let you automatically perform actions on incoming emails based on specific criteria. Common uses include moving messages from certain senders to designated folders or forwarding emails to another recipient.

Step One

To begin, please log in to your Webmail at https://webmail.names.co.uk/. Enter your Username and Password, then select Login to proceed.

Step Two

In the top right corner of the page, select Settings.

Step Three

Under Settings, select Filters.

Step Four

In the Filters column, select the plus button.

Step Five

You will be presented with several options for how you wish to configure your filter.

Filter Name

Choose a name for your new filter (Move Messages from Chris A).

Field

Choose the field you want to check (e.g., From).

Match

Choose the type of match you want to apply (e.g., Contains).

Text

Enter the text you want to match (e.g., joe@bloggs.com).

Add more rules

Click the [+] button if you want to add more rules, then repeat the steps above.

Filter Action

Choose the action you want to perform (e.g., Move message to).

Destination Folder

Specify the target folder or input the recipient’s email address (depending on the action chosen).

Add more actions

Click the [+] button if you want to add more actions, then repeat the steps above.

Once all has been done, select Save.

Examples

Move to a different folder

In this example, we will move any emails that come from a specified colleague’s email address into a separate folder for a group project.

  • Filter Name – “August Project”
  • Field – From
  • Match – Contains
  • Text – joe@bloggs.com
  • Filter Action – Move message to
  • Destination Folder – “Work”

Automatically delete emails containing a keyword or phrase

In this example, we will automatically delete suspected spam emails containing the phrase “You’ve won a prize!”.

  • Filter Name – “Spam Filter: Prize”
  • Field – Subject
  • Match – Contains
  • Text – “You’ve won a prize!”
  • Filter Action – Delete message
