Sustainability is no longer a side initiative for businesses – it is becoming a fundamental part of how organisations operate, innovate and grow. Here at names.co.uk, that belief is reflected in our latest Impact Report, which highlights the progress we’ve made across Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) priorities during 2024/25.
As part of the wider team.blue group, supporting more than 3.3 million customers across Europe, we recognise the responsibility that comes with helping businesses thrive online. This year’s report demonstrates how we are embedding sustainability into our operations through the Group’s blue.shift strategy, focused on three core pillars: sustainable tech, digital inclusion and digital trust.
Driving sustainable tech
One of the most significant areas of focus is reducing our environmental impact while continuing to provide reliable digital infrastructure. Our primary UK data centre has been powered by 100% renewable electricity since 2021, and we continue to improve how we measure and manage our carbon footprint.
In 2024, we achieved an 86% reduction in Scope 1 emissions compared with the previous year, driven largely by lower gas consumption. We have also improved our emissions reporting by introducing more accurate energy tracking across our offices and data centres, providing a clearer picture of our environmental impact.
Beyond energy consumption, we are taking practical steps to reduce waste and support a more sustainable digital ecosystem. During the year, 100% of end-of-life servers were either recycled or reused, while all company vehicles were converted to hybrid or electric models, helping us achieve the Group’s electric vehicle target ahead of schedule.
Building a more inclusive digital future
People remain at the heart of everything we do. Across team.blue UK&IE, we continue to invest in creating an inclusive, supportive and engaging workplace.
This year, 50% of new hires were women, helping us maintain momentum towards our diversity goals, while female representation within leadership reached 34%. Employee engagement remained a key priority, supported through initiatives such as wellbeing-focused Lunch & Learn sessions, mental health support programmes and enhanced diversity, equity and inclusion training.
Our commitment to positive impact extends beyond our workforce. Through team.blue Group’s annual charity challenge, colleagues helped raise €18,000 for MOVE Europe, a charity supporting young people with disabilities. We also strengthened our local community involvement by sponsoring a local girls’ football team close to our Worcester office, helping create opportunities for women and girls to participate in sport within a safe and supportive environment.
Strengthening digital trust
As a technology business, trust is essential. Throughout 2024/25, we continued investing in cybersecurity, information governance and customer experience.
A key milestone was the launch of a project to centralise information security management across several UK&IE brands, creating a more consistent and robust framework for certification and compliance. At the same time, we introduced a revised cybersecurity awareness programme, achieving 100% employee participation and an 87% completion rate in training focused on cyber, AI and data privacy.
Customer experience also remained a major priority. We formalised our quality assurance processes, introduced new operational leadership roles and continued improving support standards, achieving a Net Promoter Score of 45.8 while handling more than 183,000 inbound calls and 126,000 support tickets during the year.
Looking ahead
Perhaps one of the most exciting developments is our ongoing journey towards B Corp certification, with submission of our B Impact Assessment targeted for late 2026. This process is helping shape not only our own approach to sustainability, governance and wellbeing, but also providing valuable learnings that can be shared across the wider team.blue Group.
While we are proud of the progress made so far, we recognise that sustainability is a continuous journey. Our latest Impact Report provides a transparent overview of where we are today, the challenges we still face, and the ambitions that will guide us into the future.
