AI – Connect a domain to a Wix website

If you have a domain with us and you wish to connect it to a website that you have created with Wix, you can connect the two services using the pointing method. This can be achieved with the use of DNS settings.

IMPORTANT: this method will only be possible if we are your nameserver provider.

To begin, you will need to obtain the pointing DNS settings from Wix. These can be found on your Wix account.

  1. Go to Domains in your Wix account.
  2. Select Add an Existing Domain.
  3. Select Connect a domain that you already own.
  4. Choose the site you wish to connect with your domain and select Continue.
  5. Input the domain you wish to connect and select Let’s go.
  6. Select Yes, I own this domain highlighted in blue in the sentence below the field.
  7. Follow the steps on their site to connect your domain manually to be presented with the pointing DNS settings you need.

You will be presented with two DNS records: an A record and a CNAME record. Once you have these settings, follow the steps below to input them on our nameservers.

  1. Log into your Control Panel on names.co.uk. If you are unsure how to log in, please follow this guide: https://www.names.co.uk/support/articles/how-to-access-your-control-panel/
  2.  In the upper section of your Control Panel page you will see 4 tabs, select the option for Services, then select Dashboard from the drop-down menu that appears.
  3. Select the name of the domain you wish to connect.
  4. On the page you are taken to, scroll to the bottom of the page and select DNS Settings.
  5. If not done so already, select the option to activate Advanced DNS settings
  6. Under the A, CNAME records etc section, you will find all the current DNS settings your domain uses.
  7. In the next available row, you can input the A record. Leave the Host Name field blank, select the Type as A, then input the IP address of the A record in the Result field. NOTE: If you have any other A records currently in use, you must make sure to remove these records first.
  8. Once done, you will need to then input the CNAME record in the next available row. Type www in the Host name field, select the type as CNAME, then input the record in the Result field. NOTE: if you have any other CNAME records with the host name www, you must remove them first.
  9. Confirm the changes by clicking Save at the bottom of the page.

You may need to wait 24 to 48 hours for these changes to take effect due to DNS propagation. For more information on DNS propagation, you can view this guide: https://www.names.co.uk/support/articles/what-is-propagation-and-how-does-it-affect-me/

Create your Terms and Conditions

If you have a blog, an app, a marketplace or e-commerce site, or if you display ads on your site/app, you most likely need a Terms and Conditions document.

Terms and Conditions sets legally binding rules about how your site, content, and services may be used, so it’s highly recommended, and sometimes even mandatory.

Especially if you have a marketplace or e-commerce store, Terms and Conditions can help you handle the demands of unreasonable clients by setting clear rules about:

  • return
  • withdrawal
  • cancellation policies
  • sales conditions

💡 Did you know?

Most e-commerce sites are legally required to have a refund and return policy in place.

In fact, if you don’t have a Terms and Conditions document, or if you have a document that lacks specific provisions, your users may be granted a number of extra rights – like an extended return period (e.g. extended from the standard 14 days to 1 year and 14 days in the EU!).

💡 Follow these steps to create your Terms and Conditions document

  • First, login to your Online Compliance dashboard
  • Choose an existing site/project or click on “Start Generating”
  • Create your document: Under “Terms and Conditions”, click “Generate now” or click on “Resume the Generation”
  • Click on “Add Clauses” and choose from 100+ lawyer-drafted clauses (including disclaimers) or customize clauses to fit your needs
  • Add up to 10 languages to your document in just 1 click, by clicking on “Add language”

💡 Did you know?

It’s not enough to have your Terms and Conditions only on your homepage. Because Terms and Conditions are meant to be a legally binding contract between you and your users, you need to ensure that your users can always easily see, access and (ideally) agree to your terms.

This is why on the next email, we will show you how to integrate your document into your website/app.
