What to do when your autoconfiguration is not working

If you find that your email client is requiring more information than your email address and password it is possible that your autodiscover settings are not live yet. Usually this is live within 48 hours of your Office 365 service being activated.

The first thing to check is that your service has been switched over to Office 365 from your names.co.uk, please follow this guide to ensure that your package has been switched over.http://www.names.co.uk/support/articles/changed-to-microsoft-365-exchange-but-still-getting-emails-to-names-co-uk-account/

Once you have switched over to Office 365 you will need to allow 48 hours for the DNS settings to propagate before the auto configure will work.

If you need to access your emails during this time you can use the Outlook Web Access at https://portal.office.com or alternatively you can set your email up as an IMAP or POP account using these settings.

  • POP setting
  • Server name: outlook.office365.com
  • Port: 995
  • Encryption method: SSL
  • IMAP setting
  • Server name: outlook.office365.com
  • Port: 993
  • Encryption method: SSL
  • SMTP setting

  • Port: 587
  • Encryption method: TLS
