A blog is a great way of writing about specific subjects and encouraging your website visitors to share and discuss your ideas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this step by step guide we\u2019ll cover how to activate and use Website Builder<\/a>\u2019s built-in blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Activating the blog<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first step is to click on the Blog<\/strong><\/em> icon in the left hand menu of your Website Builder editor and click on the orange Add blog<\/strong><\/em> button.<\/p>\n\n\n

When you do this a new page called Blog<\/strong><\/em> will be created and added to your website\u2019s navigation menu. You will automatically be taken to the Manage Blog<\/strong><\/em> screen and you will always be able to go there again by clicking on the Blog<\/strong><\/em> link in the left hand menu.<\/p>\n\n\n

Creating & editing blog posts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You will see that three blog posts have automatically been created for you and you may find it easier to create your first blog posts by editing these default ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each blog post has a number of options beside it.<\/p>\n\n\n

From left to right, these options are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Edit the blog post<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Change various settings of the blog post. For example – the title, description and thumbnail image<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Preview the blog post, so you can see exactly what it will look like on the live website<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Duplicate the blog post. This will create an exact copy of the post which you can then edit to create a new one. If two blog posts share similar content then this may be the best way of creating the second post<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Delete the blog post<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Republish the blog post \u2013 for example, if it has been updated since it was first created<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    You can also create a brand new empty blog post by clicking on the orange New post<\/em> button in the top left corner of the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Info:<\/strong> Don\u2019t forget to publish a post once you have created it, and also to re-publish the website itself.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Editing the blog layout<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    When you activated the blog Website Builder will automatically have created a page called Blog<\/strong><\/em> which displays the three default posts. You will see this page listed in the Pages<\/strong><\/em> section of the left hand menu.<\/p>\n\n\n

    You can see that the three posts are laid out side by side, each one displaying the thumbnail image, and there is also a handy search bar that allows visitors to easily find a specific post.<\/p>\n\n\n

    Clicking on the posts will open a pop-up window that allows you to customise how they are displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n

    Here you can control settings such as the display of the thumbnail images and the publishing date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Clicking on Design<\/strong><\/em> at the top offers various layout changes.<\/p>\n\n\n
