Following the instructions will also ensure that you are not using POP before SMTP (if applicable), which is not supported on our mail servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you do not see your email application listed below it may be that no changes are required. However if you believe that you have either &#8216;CRAM-MD5&#8217; or &#8216;POP before SMTP&#8217; enabled on an email application that is not listed, please visit the support sites for your respective application.<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-ie\/article\/add-an-email-account-to-outlook-6e27792a-9267-4aa4-8bb6-c84ef146101b\">Microsoft Outlook Support<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-gb\/mail\">Apple Mail Support<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/kb\/manual-account-configuration\">Thunderbird Support<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Please note that we do not provide comprehensive support for third party email applications, and these guides are simply provided out of courtesy.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How to update your authentication method from CRAM-MD5 to Normal Password<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MD5 is an extremely outdated method of password authentication and has been replaced in recent times by using Normal Password authentication (sometimes referred to as Clear Text authentication), along with a Security Protocol such as SSL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/macmail.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>For newer versions of iOS (High Sierra)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Mac Mail, go to&nbsp;<strong>Mail &gt; Preferences&#8230;<\/strong><\/li><li>In the&nbsp;<strong>Accounts<\/strong>&nbsp;tab, make sure that the correct account is selected on the left hand side, and click on the option for&nbsp;<strong>Server Settings.<\/strong><\/li><li>Click the Accounts drop-down found under&nbsp;<strong>Outgoing Mail Server<\/strong>, and select&nbsp;<strong>Edit SMTP Server List&#8230;<\/strong><\/li><li>Under the&nbsp;<strong>Server Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;tab untick the box for&nbsp;<strong>Automatically detect and maintain account settings.<\/strong><\/li><li>Under the&nbsp;<strong>Authentication<\/strong>&nbsp;drop-down, ensure&nbsp;<strong>Password<\/strong>&nbsp;is selected rather than&nbsp;<strong>MD5 Challenge-Response.<\/strong><\/li><li>Make sure that the&nbsp;<strong>Username<\/strong>&nbsp;is your email address, and the&nbsp;<strong>Password<\/strong>&nbsp;is your email password.<\/li><li>Ensure that the&nbsp;<strong>Port<\/strong>&nbsp;is set to&nbsp;<strong>465<\/strong>&nbsp;and the box for&nbsp;<strong>Use TLS\/SSL<\/strong>&nbsp;is ticked.<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>OK<\/strong>&nbsp;to close the&nbsp;<strong>SMTP<\/strong>&nbsp;window, then&nbsp;<strong>OK<\/strong>&nbsp;again to close&nbsp;<strong>Preferences.<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend restarting your application for the new settings to take effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>For older versions of iOS<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Mac Mail, go to&nbsp;<strong>Mail &gt; Preferences&#8230;<\/strong><\/li><li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>Accounts<\/strong>&nbsp;tab. Under&nbsp;<strong>Account Information<\/strong>, click the drop-down next to&nbsp;<strong>Outgoing Mail Server<\/strong>&nbsp;and select&nbsp;<strong>Edit SMTP Server List&#8230;<\/strong><\/li><li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>Advanced<\/strong>&nbsp;tab.<\/li><li>Under the&nbsp;<strong>Authentication<\/strong>&nbsp;drop-down, ensure&nbsp;<strong>Password<\/strong>&nbsp;is selected rather than&nbsp;<strong>MD5 Challenge-Response.<\/strong><\/li><li>Make sure that the&nbsp;<strong>Username<\/strong>&nbsp;is your email address, and the&nbsp;<strong>Password<\/strong>&nbsp;is your email password.<\/li><li>Please ensure that the box for&nbsp;<strong>Automatically detect and maintain account settings<\/strong>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<strong>NOT<\/strong>&nbsp;ticked<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>OK<\/strong>&nbsp;to close the&nbsp;<strong>SMTP<\/strong>&nbsp;window<\/li><li>Next, click on the Advanced tab.<\/li><li>Use the&nbsp;<strong>Authentication<\/strong>&nbsp;drop-down to change it from&nbsp;<strong>MD5 Challenge-Response<\/strong>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<strong>Password.<\/strong><\/li><li>To save the settings, simply close the&nbsp;<strong>Preferences<\/strong>&nbsp;window.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend restarting your application for the new settings to take effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/iphonelogo.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>From the home screen on your device tap&nbsp;<strong>Settings<\/strong>, and then&nbsp;<strong>Accounts &amp; Passwords.<\/strong>&nbsp;(This may be called&nbsp;<strong>Mail, Contacts, Calendars<\/strong>&nbsp;on older versions of iOS)<\/li><li>Then tap the email account under&nbsp;<strong>Accounts.<\/strong><\/li><li>Tap&nbsp;<strong>Account.<\/strong><\/li><li>Scroll down and tap&nbsp;<strong>SMTP<\/strong>&nbsp;under&nbsp;<strong>Outgoing Mail Server.<\/strong><\/li><li>Tap on your&nbsp;<strong>Primary SMTP server<\/strong><\/li><li>Tap&nbsp;<strong>Authentication.<\/strong><\/li><li>Ensure&nbsp;<strong>Password<\/strong>&nbsp;is selected rather than&nbsp;<strong>MD5 Challenge-Response.<\/strong><\/li><li>Make sure that the&nbsp;<strong>Username<\/strong>&nbsp;is your email address, and the&nbsp;<strong>Password<\/strong>&nbsp;is your email password.<\/li><li>Tap the button on the top left to go to the previous screen, then click&nbsp;<strong>Done.<\/strong><\/li><li>Then, tap the account name at the top left to go back to the previous screen.<\/li><li>Tap&nbsp;<strong>Advanced<\/strong>&nbsp;at the bottom of the screen.<\/li><li>Tap&nbsp;<strong>Authentication<\/strong>&nbsp;found under&nbsp;<strong>Incoming Settings<\/strong>, and change this to&nbsp;<strong>Password.<\/strong><\/li><li>Tap the button on the top left to go back to the previous screen, and then repeat this process again.<\/li><li>Now tap&nbsp;<strong>Done<\/strong>&nbsp;to save the changes.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/thunderbirdlogo.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Thunderbird, right click on your account located on the left-hand side, and click&nbsp;<strong>Settings&#8230;<\/strong><\/li><li>In the&nbsp;<strong>Account Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;window, select&nbsp;<strong>Server Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;under your account listed on the left hand side.<\/li><li>You will then have the option for&nbsp;<strong>Authentication method<\/strong>&nbsp;(found under&nbsp;<strong>Security Settings<\/strong>) in the middle of the window. Please change this to&nbsp;<strong>Normal Password.<\/strong><\/li><li>Next, select the&nbsp;<strong>Outgoing Server (SMTP)<\/strong>&nbsp;option on the left-hand side of the Account Settings window &#8211; this is found at the very bottom of the list.<\/li><li>Select your SMTP server, and then click&nbsp;<strong>Edit&#8230;<\/strong><\/li><li>Under&nbsp;<strong>Authentication Method<\/strong>, change the option from&nbsp;<strong>Encrypted password<\/strong>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<strong>Normal Password<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Make sure that the&nbsp;<strong>Port<\/strong>&nbsp;is set to&nbsp;<strong>465<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>Connection Security<\/strong>&nbsp;is set to&nbsp;<strong>SSL\/TLS.<\/strong><\/li><li>Select&nbsp;<strong>OK<\/strong>&nbsp;to accept your changes, then&nbsp;<strong>OK<\/strong>&nbsp;again to close the&nbsp;<strong>Account Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;dialogue.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend restarting your application for the new settings to take effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/outlook2007_00_logo.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click on&nbsp;<strong>Tools<\/strong>&nbsp;at the top, and then&nbsp;<strong>Account Settings<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Double click on your email account<\/li><li>Make sure that the box for&nbsp;<strong>Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)<\/strong>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<strong>NOT<\/strong>&nbsp;ticked.<\/li><li>Then click on&nbsp;<strong>More Settings&#8230;<\/strong><\/li><li>Click on the&nbsp;<strong>Outgoing Server<\/strong>&nbsp;tab.<\/li><li>Make sure that the box for&nbsp;<strong>My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication<\/strong>&nbsp;is ticked, and that&nbsp;<strong>Use same settings as my incoming mail server<\/strong>&nbsp;is also ticked.<\/li><li>Also make sure that the box for&nbsp;<strong>Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail<\/strong>&nbsp;is NOT ticked.<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>OK<\/strong>, and then click&nbsp;<strong>Next<\/strong>&nbsp;to save your account settings.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/outlook2010.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/outlook2013and2016.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click on&nbsp;<strong>File<\/strong>&nbsp;at the top left corner<\/li><li>Click on&nbsp;<strong>Account Settings &gt;
