– Open Outlook Express and click on Tools<\/strong> and then Accounts<\/strong>…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Click on the Mail<\/strong> tab and then click on Add<\/strong> and select Mail<\/strong>…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Enter your name<\/strong> and then click on Next<\/strong>…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"\/<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

– Enter your E-mail address<\/strong> and then click on Next<\/strong>…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Select POP3<\/strong> from the drop down menu and enter pop3.hosts.co.uk<\/strong> into the Incoming mail server<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Your Outgoing mail server<\/strong> should be set to smtp.hosts.co.uk<\/strong> only if you have purchased Authenticated SMTP Access<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Enter your Account name<\/strong>, this will be your mailbox username, and then enter your Password<\/strong>. Click Next<\/strong>…

– Click on Finish<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Return to the Tools<\/strong> menu and select Accounts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Select your account under the Mail<\/strong> tab and then click Properties<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Select the Advanced<\/strong> tab. In the section Incoming Server<\/strong>, tick the box This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)<\/strong>. This should change the port number to 995. Click OK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Set the Outgoing mail server<\/strong> to smtp.hosts.co.uk<\/strong>, only if you have purchased Authenticated SMTP Access<\/strong>, and tick the My server requires authentication<\/strong> box. Click Settings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– If you have not purchased Authenticated SMTP Access<\/strong>, you will need to use your internet providers details<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Click on the Log on using<\/strong> button, and enter the Account name<\/strong> and Password<\/strong> supplied by the Namesco Technical Support team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important Note \u2013 Moving from POP3 to IMAP<\/strong>

Switching an email account from POP3<\/strong> to IMAP<\/strong> changes how your emails are stored<\/strong>, synchronised<\/strong>, and deleted<\/strong>.

With IMAP<\/strong>, emails remain stored on the mail server<\/strong> and are mirrored across all devices<\/strong>. Any action taken in one location \u2014 such as deleting<\/strong>, moving<\/strong>, or organising<\/strong> messages \u2014 will automatically apply everywhere. Deleting an email on your phone, for example, will also delete it from your desktop and webmail<\/strong>.

Under POP3<\/strong>, emails are downloaded to a single device<\/strong> and can be removed from the server<\/strong>. Deleting a message only affects that device, which can create differences between devices but also prevents global deletion.

Changing from a POP3 connection to IMAP will result in existing locally stored emails not being present on the server<\/strong>, and messages can be permanently deleted or lost if they are not backed up beforehand<\/strong>, depending on how the email client is configured.

To prevent permanent data loss<\/strong>, you must create a full backup of your mailboxes before making this change<\/strong>.
