.EU Pre-Registration
eu, the official TLD for the European Union, is finally here.
The .eu registry, EURid, is accepting applications for .eu domain names in 3 stages - Sunrise 1, Sunrise 2 and Landrush. Namesco are offering an application queuing and submission service for all 3 stages.
Applications in the two "Sunrise" stages will only be accepted from registrants that meet specific criteria. Applicants in the third and final "Landrush" stage need meet only the General Eligibility Criteria.
Please read all of the following information carefully before proceeding.
Option 1 (Sunrise Pre-Registration)
Choose this option if you wish to apply for a domain name that corresponds to a trademark, or an otherwise protected name.
The fee for sunrise applications is £129.99+VAT per domain name. This fee is non-refundable and includes all admin/registry fees for the first year of registration. If your application is successful, the domain name will be assigned to your account and will renew annually at £34.99+VAT.
Namesco will either submit your application immediately (Sunrise 1) or hold it until the relevant application phase opens (Sunrise 2).
You will be required to provide documentation in support of your application, details of which will be provided by the registry and validation agent once you have applied.
Should you fail to provide the necessary documentation within 40 days, your sunrise application will be cancelled.

Sunrise 1 (QUEUE NOW CLOSED)
During phase 1, only domains that correspond with...
- The full name of a public body
- The acronym by which a public body is commonly know
- If applicable, the territory which is governed by a public body
- Registered community or national trademarks
- Geographical indications
...may be applied for by the public body or holder / licensee of the trademark.
Sunrise 2 (07/02/2006 => 06/04/2006)
During phase 2, only domains that correspond with...
- the names listed in phase 1
- other rights that are protected under the national law of the member state where they are held such as:
- company names
- business identifiers
- distinctive titles of protected literary and artistic work
- unregistered trademarks
- trade names
...may be applied for by the public body or holder / licensee of the trademark.
It is important to remember that not all the rights listed are recognised in each member state. Applicants will be required to provide the legal basis that grants the right in community law or the national law of the member state where the right is held and provide documentary evidence which is accepted to demonstrate the right under that law. Option 2 (Landrush Pre-Registration)
Choose this option if you want your application to be queued for the landrush period.
Landrush pre-registration applications are priced at £1+VAT each (non-refundable). If your application is successful, the domain name(s) will be assigned to your account and your credit/debit card will be charged £24.99+VAT for the first year of registration and includes all admin/registry fees. Namesco will hold your application and it will be submitted to the registry the moment it opens for landrush on 7th April 2006. Applying now means you will stand a better chance of obtaining the name you want, provided it has not been allocated to another party during Sunrise. Before continuing with your landrush application, please ensure that you and/or your company meet the basic requirements listed below.
Landrush (7th April 2006)
Registration open to all that meet the General Eligibility Criteria, whereby the registrant must be:
- an undertaking having its registered office, central administration or principal place of business within the community, or
- an organisation established within the community without prejudice to the application of national law, or
- If applicable, the territory which is governed by a public body
- a natural person resident within the community
